Printed patches use ink — digital print, dye-sublimation or screen-print — laid onto a fabric base, so they handle photos, gradients and an unlimited colour count on a single patch. Woven patches build the artwork from coloured polyester thread on a loom and top out at six to eight thread colours. Pick printed when your artwork is photographic or fully illustrated; pick woven when it's simple type, an icon or a one-to-two-colour mark and you want a textured, fabric feel.
Iron-on (heat-seal adhesive film) is fastest to apply and survives gentle wash — best for caps, tote bags and casual wear that won't see industrial laundry. Sew-on is the most permanent option and the right call for denim back patches, jackets, scout sashes and anything machine-washed regularly. Velcro hook (paired with a loop strip sewn to the garment) is for sports kits and uniforms where patches need to be swapped between jerseys or events. We also offer peel-and-stick for short-term event handouts where you only need the patch to hold for a day.
Yes — when the patch is applied correctly. Dye-sublimation bonds the ink inside the polyester fibre, so it cannot crack, peel or fade for 30–50 wash cycles at 40°C. Digital print on twill is in the same range. For iron-on patches, follow the heat-press time supplied with the order (typically 15 seconds at 150°C with firm pressure) and wait 24 hours before the first wash so the adhesive cures fully. Inside-out wash and skip the tumble dryer for the longest life.
Up to 250mm × 200mm as standard — large enough for jacket back patches, denim panel patches and oversized festival merch. Photographic detail and soft gradients hold cleanly at that scale because every file prints at 300 DPI native. The minimum is 20mm × 20mm. Anything beyond 250mm we panel and overlap-stitch on request; share your dimensions and we'll confirm whether a single-piece print or a two-panel construction works better for your garment.
Yes. Most printed patches ship with a heat-cut or laser-cut edge for a clean sealed border, but we also offer an overlocked merrowed border in any thread colour if you want the classic patch silhouette around a printed face. Die-cut is the fourth edge option — used for non-standard outlines like stars, shields and custom shapes — with no extra setup fee above 100 pieces. Pick the edge in step one of the order; switching later is possible but costs a day in lead time.
